Forget going out Hollywood-style with bottle service and hefty door fees. Save your weekend voyages for  a little new-school jazz.  The Foundry on Melrose is the brainchild of owner and chef Eric Greenspan, formally Executive Chef at  Patina. “I just believed that a restaurant like this  would work,” says Greenspan.  At The Foundry, the atmosphere is inviting and the  food is deliciously unique, beautifully presented with  textures and flavors that will leave your taste buds  titillated to the core.  Recently taking first place at the 1st 6th Annual 2008  Grilled Cheese Invitational in the Kama Sutra Challenge,  Greenspan says, “My food is complicated simplicity.” Sipping on their signature cocktails in the lounge while  listening to a hip, young jazz band strum to covers of  Radiohead, The Beatles and other groups one wouldn’t  expect to hear instrumentally is The Foundry experience.

Already a favorite spot for locals in the neighborhood,  jazz at The Foundry evokes the feeling of  being in another city altogether. “I’m trying to build a  sense of community and culture,” says Greenspan.  “I have the future of jazz here.”  For weekend nights Greenspan hand picked The  Foundry Three (pictured) and check out their new  afternoon delight, “Hair-of-the-Dog Sundays with the  Tommy King Band” starting at 2pm.
